Isabel Duarte & Maria João Macedo
(2008/09)

“Voca”, launched in 2008, is an independent art magazine designed and edited by Isabel Duarte and Maria João Macedo. This publication aspired to be a platform for Portuguese creatives to write and reflect about their practices and subjects of interest in response to a general theme. The specific thematic orientation was also expressed in terms of the artistic and graphic direction of the publications. The first issue entitled “Made Public” was produced as a personal proposal for the final project of the degree in Communication Design at the Faculty of Fine Arts of Porto and reflected on the construction of a professional persona. The second issue took Orson Wells “F for Fiction” as a motto and its contributors investigated fictional design, storytelling and documentary. Participants in both issues included Gabriela Vaz Pinheiro, Mariana Pestana, Isabel Carvalho, Mário Moura, Né Barros, Carla Cruz, Susana Lourenço Marques and Miguel Carvalhais, among others.
